Who we are

I have always loved travel. I was fortunate my dad is a retired educator. I was born in Canada and shortly later my parents chose to move to Sunnyvale, Ca. During my early education my dad took another one year assignment at the American College in Thessaloniki Greece. I can remember genuine kindness to children, families and travelers. With our home in Sunnyvale, we also lived in Guatemala, England, Hawaii in addition to being home schooled and travelled across the US on his sabbatical researching alternative education programs. We also visited: a National Geographic Photographer, a Poet, Director of the Boston Children's Museum, A Hopi School reservation, an archeologist, an architect and a scientist. During these formative years we hosted Irish students, Israeli students, Japanese Students, Spanish Students and at 16 I lived in Barcelona Spain with a teammate's friend whose father was an American Foreign student from Mallorca Spain to Belmont California in 1956. You could do that in those days. The night I arrived in Barcelona I was filled with wonder when I rode up the Ramblas in a Plastic Two Cylinder Citroen with my Timeless Spanish Family.

From eariest memories, I spent every spare moment exploring the outdoors. I bicycled, hiked, camped, and explored the bookstores, coffee shops, forests, libraries, museums and parks of the San Francisco Bay Area. In university, I worked in New York to be closer to Spain, and after graduating, I returned to Spain to live and work.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have lived and traveled abroad for more than 10% of my life. The experiences and people I have encountered have shaped me and instilled in me a deep appreciation for family, purpose (Ikigai), health, and connection.

This project would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my wife, Anne. She has taught me to be present, to listen, and to write from the heart. We are not defined by where we are, or the stamps on our passports. We have shared many wonderful adventures with our children, and I look forward to many more in the years to come. I am also grateful for the friends who have brought joy and safety to my journey.

Thank you for your continued support.
